Dare the Difficult

January brings with it new hopes and new dreams. And a lot of us plan to win big. Until the journey gets tough. As Mike Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. I don’t know where you are on your journey to success, but I would want to encourage you to dare the difficult.

In the journey of life, growth often comes from stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing challenges that seem insurmountable. The path to personal and professional development is rarely smooth or easy. If it was, we would all be successful. But it is clear most people, and businesses are not living up to their potential. The road to success is paved with obstacles that test our resolve and push us to our limits. This is where the concept of “daring the difficult” comes into play.

Embrace the Abnormal

To grow, we must be willing to do what others might consider abnormal. Growth lies beyond the comfort zone. This means taking on tasks that are daunting, pushing ourselves beyond our perceived limits, and striving for excellence in the face of adversity. When we normalize the abnormal, we shift our mindset from one of fear and hesitation to one of courage and determination.

Picture looking at a person working out in the gym. With those many kgs, at first glance, it might seem like an impossible feat. The weights are heavy, the strain is visible, and the effort required is immense. But remember, the person didn’t wake up to lifting the heavy weights. They got to where they are with consistent practice, unwavering dedication, soldierlike discipline until what once seemed abnormal became the new normal. That can be you, only if you make the decision to go for it.

The Power of Persistence

Persistence is key in this journey. It is through repeated efforts and a refusal to give up that we make progress. Each attempt, whether successful or not, brings us closer to our goals. The challenges we face are not roadblocks but stepping-stones that lead us to greater heights. As the saying goes, winners don’t quit, and quitters are not winners.  If something is important to you, resolve to take the necessary steps to win. Your motto should be either to succeed or die trying. Failure is not an option. It’s either you win, or you win BIG.

Discovery at the End of the Difficult

At the end of every difficult journey lies discovery. And the reason you embark on a journey is to enjoy the fruits of that discovery. It is our desire to want more, being more curious, wanting to discover our true potential, our strengths, and our capabilities. We learn that we are capable of more than we ever imagined. The difficult tasks we dared to undertake reveal new opportunities and open doors to possibilities we never knew existed. As they say, a ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are made for. So when you feel like giving up, remind yourself why you started. The potential discoveries that lay beyond the pain.

Conclusion

I would like to challenge you my friend that growth comes from daring the difficult. By embracing challenges and normalizing the abnormal, we pave the way for personal and professional development. The journey may be tough, but the rewards are worth it. So, dare the difficult, and discover the extraordinary potential within you. Live up to your potential. Let me end with the words of Jim Collins who stated that “In the end, it is impossible to live a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work.’’
